Latexco® United States Moves Forward with New Plant Opening and New Environmentally-friendly ‘Green’ Products

Written by: Dale T. Read, Editor-in-Chief

The two big stories coming out of Latexco® United States were the summer opening of their 100,000 square foot manufacturing and distributing plant in Lavonia, GA and the further expansion of product development capabilities, especially Latexco’s "green story". The plant is located on a plot of land that will eventually allow for expansion to a 250,000 square foot facility in Georgia. With the entire supplier team, key customers and public officials present, full factory operations began, producing toppers, composites and continuous rolls for quilting. Plans call for the completion of a second continuous line in 2008, and the company should be manufacturing cores sometime over the next two years.

According to COO Vincent Gesquiere, Latexco is positioned to continue the company’s expansion into the global market, especially the US. "We have designed and constructed the most technologically advanced latex foam production facility in the world. Using a unique Latexco continuous line process, we will be able to meet the most demanding requirements

from sleep industry manufacturers. Our US staff has far more latex mattress design and sales experience than any other latex supplier."

Latexco executives note that all natural rubber from the Hevea Brasiliensis tree represents more than 50% of the composition of the product being produced on the lines in Georgia.

This material is natural in origin, it is a renewable resource, which is biodegradable and allows Latexco to offer manufacturers and consumers an environmentally friendly product.

Latexco completely covers the US with its Georgia manufacturing plant, its California fabricating and distribution center, as well as distributors across the country. "The company builds exclusive molds for each major company," says California based Sleep Comp President, Roger Coffey. "Latexco supplies each major mattress major with its own group of designs. We avoid selling ‘me-too’ latex components that typically erode our customer’s margin when confronted with similar products from their competition."
