In this new era of health-conscious consumers, litigation, government regulations and fines, as well as growing environmental awareness, it is becoming increasingly important for retailers to know what is going on inside a bed. The “Intel® Inside” marketing campaign was created by the micro-chip manufacturer because they knew that consumers wanted a quality product inside their computers. They wanted a brand, a company name they could identify with, count on, and even ask for. More and more consumers, and retailers, a like, need and want to know what is going on with any product they bring into their home, including their bed. What materials are being used for fillers, separators, fibers, quilting, foams and ticking covers? Not only do retailers need to provide inquiring consumers more information, but they need to protect themselves by having as much knowledge as possible about what goes into the various conventional and specialty sleep products they are selling. This special supplier section entitled “In the Bed” is designed to educate the retailer not only about the materials and components but also about the companies supplying those materials and components to mattress/bedding manufacturers. We hope this section is informative and useful for all who read it. |

The Latex Green Ltd Team Builds on Skill and Experience
Latex Green’s corporate philosophy centers around natural bedding and protecting the environment in which we live and work. To that end, they produce only 100% Natural Latex Foam Rubber, a sustainable resource, and they work to maintain and improve the quality of the environment in which the rubber is grown, harvested and manufactured.
LATEX GREEN (PVT) Ltd, based in Sri Lanka, is a 100% Natural Latex Foam manufacturer, recognized in Sri Lanka for manufacturing quality latex bedding components using a material provided by nature, “Natural latex”. They mastered the use of natural latex to produce 100% natural latex cores, toppers and pillows.
The factory is located in Sri Lanka near the capital city of rubber plantations, Avissawella 30 miles east of Colombo. The beautiful site is surrounded by scenic hills covered with a canopy of green rubber tree tops. Latex Green’s commitment to protect its environment was recognized when it won a financial grant offered by the Netherlands government. The company boasts 60 years of combined ‘hands on’ technical management experience in rubber technology and manufacturing. Thanks to this experience, they are able to continually strive for better and ‘greener’ materials which they provide to the bedding industry.
Their mission is simple: to become the leader in the natural latex foam industry, providing a high quality product at an affordable price. “This vision is more meaningful and easier to achieve when we all believe in it,” says CEO Ana Jayatilleka. “The company has implemented a unique management style to build confidence and accountability in each employee inviting each one of them to utilize his or her true capabilities.”
The manufacturing begins with sourcing the right quality natural latex from its plantations. Experience has shown that latex which originates from different geographical plantations tends to vary slightly in its characteristics. Therefore the careful selection of the incoming latex is crucial to the quality of the final product.
Latex Green has created a strategic partnership with one of the largest plantation companies in Sri Lanka. The Plantation Company “Glen-Ross Rubber Company” has its own centrifuging facility catering to Latex Green’s tighter quality control requirements.
Using a potable water source, the product is put through a closed nip series of rubber rollers which is essential for efficient washing. Inadequate washing would result in some unpleasant odor from the product and also the foam would tend to discolor and lead to premature aging. Latex Green has implemented a six point hardness test on all cores, making sure consistency of product is always achieved continuously.
The dedicated team has proven its skill and experience by making a product that has been recognized by a leading test laboratory, LGA-Germany when it awarded 100 points out of 100 for its product resilience characteristics. Moreover, Latex Green has obtained ECO recognition certifying their product as being a pure Natural latex product without any fillers or synthetic material in the compounds.
Latex Green has developed many capabilities in R&D. Their engineers are specialized in design engineering and are ready to work with the customer to create product to suit specific marketing programs. The single mould system in operation offers non-fabricated mattress cores in all standard sizes including California King for the USA market. Among new developments, their recent innovation of a new formula to make lighter latex foam products has generated excitement. The company hopes to introduce this product under a new product line with the name “E-core-LITE” TM latex offering the same characteristics of a 100% natural latex product.
The company’s product diversification includes over 100 different combinations of products being offered in over 30 different markets around the world. Latex toppers, cores and pillows in multiple sizes and densities are offered in the US and Europe. Latex Green is also proud to be associated with a leading latex manufacturer in France once it successfully satisfied the stringent quality standards.
The Progressive Production Lead-time Program (PPLP) is a key feature that offers on-time delivery to any destination in the world. The company maintains an on-time delivery record of 98.6% accuracy on agreed delivery timelines.
Latex green has a passion for “Nature” and is making every effort to maximize its contribution to protect the environment. Even though their products are totally biodegradable, more focus has been given to minimize latex waste by reusing whenever possible. In recognition of these efforts, a special grant of funds has been offered to Latex Green by a Netherlands environment group for converting latex waste to a useable product. The company uses 95% of its latex waste making “All Natural Latex” padding for the bedding industry.
